Glider Kits allow a customer to re-use the major components from an existing vehicle, to build a refurbished truck using many new components.

Glider Kits come in two basic configurations:
- Rolling Glider: no engine or transmission, includes axles and rear end
- Power Glider: includes an engine, but no rear axle, transmission, drive line or rear-end
A Glider Kit is a brand new truck from the assembly line, with a factory warranty, where the customer furnishes a combination of engine, transmission, drive-line and rear axle. Glider kits allow a customer to re-use major components from an existing truck or install fully warranted new or remanufactured components at a great cost savings.

Glider Kits include ABS, air brakes, A/C, power steering, fuel tank, radiator, engine harness, exhaust system. The interior of the cab is showroom new.

75% Safe Harbor Rule
Customers completed Glider Kit (purchase price, labor, parts) must be 75% or less of the cost of a new vehicle (fare market price). Potential 12% savings right off the top – USA only.
Tax Savings
Gliders come with a new model year and VIN which are deductible/depreciable as a new asset. |

FET Savings
Glider kits are exempt from FET (Federal Excise Tax) and that saves 12% off the price of a new truck. F.E.T. exempt in most cases (USA Only). Gliders are released without the 12% FET assessment, as 2 of the 3 major components a transmission, engine or rear axle must be missing, and assumed customer supplied. |
Warrantee
Full factory backing with all new components, 1 year/100,000 mile warranty is standard; optional extended warranties available through Daimler Extended Coverage Group. Full engine warranties manufacturer Daimler Trucks North America will vary by engine manufacturer. |
